A boring Formula? Do not think so. A Mercedes one-make series? It might be the case, Ferrari and Renault permitting (but only if they invent something quickly). For the moment, the Championship fight exists only among the braves who chose the three pointed star power units, and what a quality fight ! Honestly I was on the edge of my seat watching Hamilton and Rosberg duel for victory. And I would have put all of my money on Nico, the man blessed by the late safety car and by a set of softies. Yet Lewis remained in command with a perfectly controlled lead, pushing his machine to the limit with his last set of hard rubber. Four Pirellis thought to be a Caporetto on paper, yet turning into a triumphant march to Rome. The after race brotherly exchange captured by the cameras inside the cool down room before the podium, gave us a scenario which is due to be repeated again..(not sure in which order)… Nico’s frustration came strongly out of his fit body soon after the adrenalin stopped pumping in his veins..”How did I miss that” he showed to be saying to himself, “how did I…” What a magnificent and colorful image of our sport! The same show was probably going on stage in the motor homes of Force India, Red Bull and Williams, where teammates changed positions for an in-house supremacy throughout the race. For each shining side of the story there is an ugly one, though. And the “stupidity” award goes to Maldonado, no doubts. However I forgive Pastor as, once Gutierrez was back on his four feet and safe out of his Sauber, his silly mistake triggered the SC which gave us one of the best shows on earth…No wonder why in the US safety cars are deployed as soon as the wind changes…
