Someone may have noticed that I skipped writing my blog after the Monaco GP. I was a little bored after the race and found little inspiration to mark my words. A part with my temporary state of mind, I was really happy for Nico’s success and I followed with interest the series of exchanges between the silver arrow’s boys during and after the Monegasque week end. I thought the seemly unfriendly dispute would spice up the championship and for sure it did. Before the Canadian race, a stream of web reports announced that a fiery challenge would eventually blow and the entire F.1 community split 50/50 guessing the winner of the Grand Prix, given the fact that he was to be a three pointed star driver. Then, puff.. the magic formula: Take a masterful drive by Ricciardo, add a little trouble for the Mercedes power units together with traffic for Vettel and brake failure for Perez and……there is your recipe for victory ! And good for young Daniel and his permanent smile, the man who has shown the world of Motor Sport that young guns mean business and that F.1 Teams should always take a chance and give the new generation a proper GO. I met Daniel during his first F.1 stint in HRT when he replaced Karthikeyan. I followed his progress, race after race, driving a horrible car to its limits. After what I’d seen I knew he was “foreman material” and I told the world.
